Richard Dominguez

Richard Dominguez, born Eufrancio Ricardo Dominguez on September 22, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, is an American comic book artist, writer, and freelance storyboard illustrator. Growing up in West Dallas as the second of seven children, he developed an early love for comic books, inspired by legends such as Jack Kirby, Will Eisner, and animation pioneers like Max Fleisher and Walt Disney.

He took commercial art courses in high school and life drawing classes at a community college before working to create point-of-purchase displays for a local supermarket. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he worked as an intern in various art and design studios, eventually beginning his own freelance career as a storyboard artist and illustrator.

Richard Dominguez is best known as the creator of "El Gato Negro," a Latino superhero who made his debut in 1993 through his own publishing imprint, Azteca Productions. Originally conceived as part of a larger Hispanic superhero team called "Team Tejas," Dominguez chose to focus on El Gato Negro, developing his character and storyline extensively.
