She grew up in a family where her father, Peter Abdoo, worked as a budget analyst for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and her mother, Mary, was a homemaker.
Her journey into the world of acting began in Chicago, where she performed at various improvisational theaters, including the Improv Institute and The Second City. Her talent for comedy and improvisation led her to develop her own one-woman shows, such as "Who Does She Think She Is?" and "Get to the Part About Me."
After graduating from Southfield High School, Rose earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 1984 and later a Master of Fine Arts in Acting, both from Michigan State University.

Encouraged by a professor to study improvisation, she moved to Chicago and joined The Second City, performing in their national touring shows and later in their E.T.C. troupe. Her performance in the production "We Made a Mesopotamia, Now You Clean It Up" earned her a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actress in a Revue in 1991.
Her career spans numerous television shows and films. She is best known for her role as Gypsy, the local mechanic in "Gilmore Girls," and as Señorita Rodriguez, the Spanish teacher in "That's So Raven."
Her filmography includes notable appearances in "My Best Friend's Wedding," "U.S. Marshals," "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," and "Good Night, and Good Luck," for which she and her castmates were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble.
