Rose Rollins was born on April 30, 1981, in Berkeley, California, and grew up in Yonkers, New York, with five brothers. She began her career as a model, appearing in numerous commercials and major advertising campaigns before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

Her acting debut came in 1999 when she appeared as C. J. Cregg's assistant in two episodes of the NBC drama series "The West Wing".

In the early 2000s, she had supporting roles in films such as "13 Moons" (2002) opposite Jennifer Beals, "Undisputed" (2002) starring Wesley Snipes, and "Something New" (2006) starring Sanaa Lathan.

She also appeared in "Mission: Impossible III" in 2006. On television, she had a recurring role in the short-lived ABC legal drama "In Justice" in 2006 and joined the cast of the Showtime drama series "The L Word" during its fourth season in 2007, playing the role of Tasha Williams until the show's finale in 2009.
