Sasha Bianca Lane, born on September 29, 1995 in Houston, Texas, is an American actress recognized for her distinctive career beginnings and her diverse and acclaimed roles in film and television.

She grew up in Dallas, Texas, her father being African-American and her mother of Māori descent from New Zealand. Following her parents' divorce, she lived with her mother and experienced several relocations before settling in Frisco, Texas.

As a student at Liberty High School, she excelled as an athlete on the basketball and track and field teams and worked as a hostess in Frisco. She later attended Texas State University but left before completing her studies.

Her entry into acting was unconventional. While on spring break in Panama City, Florida, she was noticed by director Andrea Arnold, who cast her in the lead role of Star in the 2016 film "American Honey."

The film received critical acclaim, won the Prix du Jury at the Cannes Film Festival, and marked Lane's rise to prominence. Her natural, untrained performance garnered significant attention and led to more opportunities in the industry.
