Shailene Woodley, born on November 15, 1991, in San Bernardino, California, is an American actress who first gained prominence for her role as Amy Juergens in the ABC Family teen drama series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" from 2008 to 2013.

She was discovered by an agent while taking a local theater class, which led to her working in commercials from a young age. Her parents, Lori and Lonnie Woodley, both psychologists, supported her acting career as long as she maintained good grades and stayed true to herself.
