Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922, in New York City, was an iconic American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He began his career at Timely Comics, which later became Marvel Comics, and quickly rose through the ranks to become the company's primary creative leader.

Stan Lee is best known for co-creating numerous beloved characters, including Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and the Fantastic Four, in collaboration with artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. His innovative approach to superhero storytelling, which combined superhuman abilities with human insecurities and emotions, revolutionized the comic book industry.

His personal life was marked by a long and loving marriage to Joan Clayton Boocock, whom he married in 1947. The couple had two children, Joan Celia Lee and Jan Lee, although Jan passed away shortly after birth. Joan Lee passed away in 2017, and Stan Lee himself died on November 12, 2018, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 95.

Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and honors. He was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995. In 2008, he received the National Medal of Arts.
