Tuesday Weld

Former American Actress

Tuesday Weld, born Susan Ker Weld on August 27, 1943, in Manhattan, New York City, is a former American actress who began her career as a child model and actress. Her father, Lathrop Motley Weld, passed away when she was just three years old, leaving her family in financial difficulty.

To support her family, her mother put her to work as a model, and she soon transitioned into acting. She legally changed her name to Tuesday Weld in 1959, a name derived from her childhood nickname "Tu-Tu".

Her early career was marked by her roles in movies like "Rock Rock Rock!" (1956) and "Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys!" (1958). She quickly became known as Hollywood's "sex kitten" and "nymphet" due to her youthful looks and scandalous private life.

Despite this, she managed to earn respect as an actress of genuine ability. Over the years, she took on more mature and demanding roles, earning nominations for prestigious awards such as the Golden Globe for "Play It as It Lays" (1972), an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" (1977), an Emmy Award for "The Winter of Our Discontent" (1983), and a BAFTA for "Once Upon a Time in America" (1984).

She then married comedian and actor Dudley Moore in 1975, but this marriage also ended in divorce in 1980. Her third marriage was to violinist Pinchas Zukerman in 1985, which lasted until 2001.

Her lifestyle was often described as loose and scandalous, but she managed to survive and thrive in Hollywood despite the challenges she faced. She was known for her impulsive and reckless characters on screen, which mirrored her own life to some extent. Her career slowed down in the late 1980s, and she has not been credited in any productions since 2001.

While Tuesday Weld may not have achieved first-magnitude stardom, her contributions to film and television have left a lasting impact on the industry.
