Veronica Paiz

Veronica Paiz, born on September 23, 1957, is an American Democratic politician and community leader currently serving as a Michigan State Representative. She represents the 10th House District, which includes northeast Detroit, Harper Woods, and several Grosse Pointe communities.

She began her public service career on the Harper Woods City Council before being elected to the State House in 2022, where she has since been re-elected due to district realignments. Her legislative focus includes defending reproductive freedom, increasing access to affordable essentials like food, health care, and housing, lowering childcare costs, protecting those with disabilities, reforming insurance, and improving local water infrastructure.

In the legislature, she has taken on leadership roles in several committees, including Agriculture, Finance, and Local Government, and is an active member of multiple caucuses advancing workers’ rights, equitable education, disability advocacy, gun violence prevention, and environmental justice.
