Veronica Webb was born on February 25, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, to Marion, a retired Army lieutenant colonel and public health nurse, and Leonard Douglas Webb, an electrician. She grew up in a working-class community and was inspired by magazine models and women in the fashion industry.

She graduated from the Detroit Waldorf School in 1983 and moved to New York to study design. However, her modeling career began when a makeup artist spotted her in a housewares boutique, leading her to drop out of school.

Veronica Webb quickly rose to prominence in the fashion world, becoming the first African-American model to land a major cosmetics contract with Revlon. She has graced the covers of Vogue, Essence, and Elle magazines and walked the runways for Victoria's Secret and Chanel.
