Her parents, Cynthia Palmer and Michael Horowitz, were both authors and editors, and her father was also a bookseller. Growing up, she was surrounded by literature and creativity, which likely influenced her career path. She has a younger brother named Urie and two older half-siblings from her mother's previous marriage.
